So in Blackish our expectation was that Dre is Dre but Bow would never divorce him because the entire premise of Blackish is centered around their family.īut this divorce ark was handled SO badly.įirst of all: no build up. Homer Simpson is Homer Simpson but Marge would never divorce him because the entire premise of The Simpsons is for us to laugh at their dysfunctional family. In the real world, Bow would have probably divorced him long ago (the no vasectomy thing probably being the last straw) but this is a comedy. However, that is the premise of this comedy show.

So Dre is a man child, a horrible person to Junior and very egoistical. Then the other big question mark for us is the whole "divorce" story ark. We still don't see the point of adding DeVante to the mix, the whole cast ensemble worked even without a fifth kid. The start of season 3 was really weak, but likely after that, it really took off. We found out of character that Dre didn't care enough to baptize the twins but now is suddenly a religious person like Ruby. The episode when Dre becomes obsessed with Zoey not being religious really threw us off, as a few episodes before Dre and Bow had the whole shenanigan with Ruby on the fact that the Twins were not baptized. The Disneyland Vacation promotional episode was a bit too much product placement but we still enjoyed it. We are so far loving it but we have some questions/opinions that I imagine people discussed multiple times here but here they are anyway.

So I started watching Blackish recently with my wife on Disney+/Star as I heard a lot about the show so we were curious.
